Pengertian IP Address dan DNS

IP ADDRESS (INTERNET PROTOCOL ADDRESS)

Adalah metode penomoran alamat-alamat yang terdapat di internet. Penomoran ini digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi perangkat unik di antara semua perangkat lain yang terhubung ke jaringan internet. Seperti halnya penamaan nomor rumah, tentu tidak akan mungkin memiliki nomor yang saja, jika sama tentu jalan nya yang berbeda . demikian juga halnya dengan IP Address. Dengan kata lain, setiap website memiliki IP Address yang berbeda, misalnya google.com dan Yahoo.com tidak memiliki IP Address yang sama.

IP Address terdiri dari 3 kelas. A, B, dan C

Kelas C. di mulai dari > 192.168.0.0 dan berakhir sampai 192.168.255.255

Kelas B di mulai dari > 172.16.0.0 dan berakhir sampai 172.32.255.255

Kelas A di mulai dari > 10.0.0.0 dan berakhir sampai 10.255.255.255

*Akan ada penjelasan lebih lanjut untuk penamaan IP Address ini.

DOMAIN NAME SERVER (DNS)

adalah nama unik yang digunakan sebagai alias dari satu alamat IP. Ketika kita mengakses satu domain name, secara otomatis kita mengakses satu server dengan satu IP Address tertentu yang di alamatkan oleh domain tersebut.

Apa yang terjadi ketika Anda membuka web browser, mengetikkan alamat website www.yahoo.com, dan menekan tombol Enter? Tentu saja halaman utama Yahoo! Akan tampil di web browser. Tapi, bagaimana request yang dikirimkan web browser Anda bisa sampai ke web server Yahoo, dan tidak tersasar ke tempat lain? Atau, kepada siapakah web browser bertanya di manakah rumah Yahoo? Jawabannya adalah DNS.

Singkatnya, DNS menerjemahkan domain name (yahoo.com) menjadi IP Address. Kedengarannya memang sederhana, Sebagai contoh, server tempat website Yahoo, misalnya memiliki IP Address 201.100.10.121. Setiap kali Anda mengetikkan www.yahoo.com di web browser, atau mengirimkan email ke saya@yahoo.com, tanpa disadari Anda telah menggunakan DNS untuk menerjemahkan alamat tersebut menjadi IP Address, agar dapat dikenali oleh computer.

Sesungguhnya apa yang Anda butuhkan untuk mengakses Internet sesungguhnya hanyalah IP Address. Misalnya untuk mengakses Google, Anda dapat mengetikkan http://72.14.253.104 di web browser, halaman utama Google akan tampil. Domain name digunakan untuk memudahkan kita, membuat alias untuk http://72.14.253.104 menjadi google.com, tapi sekarang permasalahnya apakah anda mau mengingat IP Address tersebut..?

Domain Name Server (DNS) adalah database terbesar dan tersibuk di dunia. Setiap hari melayani jutaan request dan perubahan. Tanpanya, aktivitas di internet tidak akan semudah dan semeriah saat ini.

Nama yang terbaca oleh manusia, seperti URL www.yahoo.com, atau alamat email saya@yahoo.com, tentu lebih mudah diingat. Tapi computer tidak demikian, ia tidak memiliki kecerdasan untuk mengingat nama, computer hanya mampu mengenal angka, itupun terbatas pada angka binary 0 dan 1.

Setiap computer yang terhubung dalam jaringan menggunakan IP Address sebagai namanya., tapi tidak untuk lima perkara berikut ini :

Terdapat milyaran IP Address yang ada saat ini, dan sebagian besar komputer juga memiliki nama yang terbaca oleh manusia.

Terdapat milyaran request kepada DNS setiap harinya, dan ratusan juta orang menggunakan Internet setiap hari.

IP Address Setiap computer yang terhubung dengan Internet, memiliki tanda pengenal yang unik, yang disebut dengan IP Adress. IP adalah singkatan dari Internet Protocol, sedangkan Address adalah angka 32 bit yang biasanya diekspresikan dalam empat octet dalam angka decimal yang dipisahkan dengan titik.
